About
Jason Cheney, M.Ed., LPC

Licensed professional counselor in Grand Junction and owner of Mesa Valley Counseling. Before private practice, Jason served families through Mesa County Department of Human Services and a community mental health clinic, and spent more than twenty years counseling and ministering with churches.
Clients often arrive feeling that something is wrong with them. The work here starts from a different premise: people are not broken, they are adaptive. Being heard, and understanding the “why” behind feelings and actions, is part of getting unstuck.
Specialty areas include Christian counseling, trauma, parenting, and care for people living with anxiety, depression, and mood disorders. Sessions may use EMDR, PCIT, CBT, solution-focused work, family systems, and Trauma Systems Therapy. Faith is welcome when you want it in the room, and it is never forced.
Jason is Colorado LPC.0017467, EMDR certified through EMDRIA, and PCIT certified through the UC Davis PCIT Training Center. He also provides expert-witness testimony in child-welfare matters when required.
